BECAUSE ART
CAN DO THINGS...
"At its most basic, it can offer a respite from the humdrum routine of everyday life, lifting us out of ourselves by inviting us to experience something out of the ordinary. But at its best, it is incredibly ambitious. It prompts us to think about life's bigger questions, shows us our preconceptions and challenges assumptions we might never had known we had. And when it works it can be tremendous, appealing to our emotions and tapping into a shared consciousness among people with differing life experiences. " - Who's Afraid of Contemporary Art?

Our Mission: Art is for Everyone.
Gainesboro Modern believes in the transformative potential of contemporary art to enhance lives, break down barriers, and ignite creative thinking for present and future generations. Our primary goal is to bring contemporary art to a community that has traditionally struggled to access and engage with it and, in turn, create a destination and support the economic vibrancy of Gainesboro, TN.
In addition, we aim to provide emerging and underrepresented artists from around the globe a platform for museum exposure.

Snails?
These slow-moving gastropods may seem like an unlikely choice, but their whimsical nature and unique appearance make them the perfect fit for a museum that celebrates creativity and imagination. As ambassadors of the museum, these snails symbolize the journey of exploration and discovery that awaits inside, inviting all to slow down, take a closer look, and appreciate the beauty of contemporary art in a whole new light.
For the creator of our snails, Cracking Art, the snail is one of their most meaningful animals, "thanks to its regenerative properties that symbolize rebirth and improvement. Its “home,” or shell, is not only associated to domesticity but also with mass communication in Italy, as the Italian word for snail – chiocciola – is also the name used for the @ symbol. The helix of its shell, which allows the snail to both hear and move, emphasizes the importance of the ability to listen and the utility of the upward movement which regulates the universe."
